Chinese community group
With an increasing number of Chinese people working at CERN, there is also surely an increasing number of Chinese women in the area, who are not always familiar with the environment, languages, or the people. Let's meet together and chat about integrating into the local community, available activities, commerces, restaurants, etc. It is also obviously a good opportunity to meet new friends.
Everyone is welcome to join us to meet for tea, coffee, and a chat. Our CWC Coffee morning will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month in room E-005 of building 504.
If you have any questions, please contact :
越來越多華人攜家帶眷來到CERN工作，在新的環境裡生活上一定會有很多疑難，尤其語言的隔閡更是一大困難。有見及此，CERN 婦女會 (CERN Women's club) 給在CERN的華人婦女們聚會的機會，聊聊天、結交新的朋友、交流一下生活點滴。
每個月的第二個星期二我們都有coffee morning在504號大樓 (餐廳 No.2) 的二樓E-005房間聚會。
周展齡 Jean Roderick
Starting in September 2016
On Tuesday at 11:00-12:30
On Monday at 17:30–19:00
In the Club Room Mezzanine
Jean C. Roderick will start a new Mandarin Chinese class for beginners.
Students will have fun learning to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, which is the official language of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. Chinese is spoken by around one fifth of the world’s population, and Mandarin Chinese is one of the six official languages of the United Nations – therefore students on this course should be able to benefit from what they learn sooner rather than later!
Chinese is an extremely rich language, which has evolved over thousands of years, and is steeped in culture. Jean will also explain the background and the cultural influences behind certain aspects of the Chinese language.
The course will be given in English, and course material will be provided on audio CD’s and paper using ‘Pinyin’ – the standard system of Mandarin Romanization using the Latin alphabet.
